This Wednesday (7) in your ANBA Bulletin: an exclusive interview with the League of Arab States' ambassador to Brasília, Qais Marouf Kheiro Shqair. He's a big proponent of enhancing Brazil-Arab economic relations. “This is very important,” he told ANBA's Isaura Daniel. “[The Arab world] is a big market” and “Brazil has many prospects, many opportunities,” he argued. Shqair is optimistic about advancing relations. He made mention of president Jair Bolsonaro's Middle East tour late next October, and said he believes Brazil could be a mediator of the region's issues. Bolsonaro is slated to travel to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. And a B2B event held Wednesday at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo saw local suppliers get in touch with major Brazilian retail chains. The meeting was held by the São Paulo Investment and Trade Promotion Agency (SP Negócios) and the Brazilian Retail Industry Equipment and Services Association (Abiesv), with support from the Arab Chamber. And revenue for Egypt's Suez Canal was an all-time high in the 2018-2019 fiscal year ended June 30, at USD 6.3 billion, up 5.4% year-on-year. The canal linking up the Red and Mediterranean seas is a key source of revenue for the country.
