This Thursday (24) in your ANBA Bulletin: Chef Rosny Gerdes shows how you can add products imported from Arab countries to your Christmas dinner. Olive oil, dates, couscous – they can all be on the Brazilian consumers’ table! Brazilian manufacturer Agrale sold ten utility vehicles to the Abu Dhabi Armed Forces. The company has supplied the UAE with these vehicles since 2018. And Brazilian shoes will be sold on a global online platform as an initiative by the export promotion project by Abicalçados and Apex-Brazil. |

Agrale sold ten units of the utility vehicle Agrale Marruá (pictured above) to the United Arab Emirates in mid-December, as per information made public last week. The AM2 model vehicles will be used by the UAE Armed Forces in Abu Dhabi, the country’s capital.

Olive oil, dates, olives, sardines, pistachio, couscous, pickles, cinnamon, frozen strawberries. These are some of the food products Brazil imports from the Arab countries that can be found in Christmas dinners across Brazil. ANBA asked chef and cuisine professor Rosny Gerdes of Phiroza Gastronomia to talk about some of the many possibilities of these foods.

Brazilian footwear will be promoted to importers on the United States’ digital platform Joor. The inclusion of the Brazilian product on the B2B global platform is an initiative by the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) to encourage exports in the digital world, a growing trend during the pandemic.

At least three Arab Gulf countries announced the decision to close their borders due to the new strain of the coronavirus, which has infected over 1,000 people in the United Kingdom, Saudi newspaper Arab News published on its website.

The Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) has opened a selection process for specific vacancies in undergraduate courses for refugees and immigrants holding humanitarian visa. There are vacancies for dozens of undergraduate courses such as Business, Biomedicine, Linguistics and Literature, Social Sciences, Physical Education, Nursing School, History, Chemistry, International Relations, among others.

Real revenues from sales at supermarkets were up 5.94% year-to-date through October, the Brazilian Association of Supermarkets (ABRAS) said. Revenues climbed 12.4% in October from a year ago, and 7.35% in July from September.

The emirate of Dubai started on December 17 the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), its traditional shopping festival where outlets offer huge discounts and a series of entertainment events take place across the emirate. The festival runs until January 30, 2021.

Brazil will now demand a negative COVID-19 test from all arrivals starting on December 30. All arrivals will be obliged to show a negative PCR test, taken no longer than 72 hours before departure.
