São Paulo – Brazilian soccer academy Pérolas Negras seeks out support to bring more young Syrians from Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan to train soccer in Brazil as well as supporting the four players that have been in Rio de Janeiro since 2018. They intend to expand their project even more into African countries such as Uganda and Kenya. The project values the excellence in the sport, education, and social inclusion and aims to prepare boys and girls and bridge the gap between amateur and professional soccer.

World Urban Forum to be held in UAE receives registrations

São Paulo – The United Arab Emirates will host two urban-related events in February. The 10th World Urban Forum (WUF10) will take place in Abu Dhabi from February 8-13 at the same time that the UAE capital hosts Better Cities Film Festival. Both events are organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).

Egypt’s publishing industry at USD 189 million

São Paulo – Egypt’s publishing industry is estimated at about EGP 3 billion (USD 189 million) and has started to recover, in the wake of Egypt’s improving economy. According to information Saeed Abdu, head of the Egyptian Publishers Association (EPA), gave to Al Ahram newspaper’s website the publishing industry in Egypt has faced considerable challenges. Abdu is also chairman of Egyptian publishing house Dar Al-Maref.

UAE to allocate USD 2 bn in Mauritania

São Paulo – The United Arab Emirates pledged the allocation of USD 2 billion for Mauritania, an Arab country in North Africa. The announcement occurred last Sunday (2) during the encounter of president of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani (pictured above) with crown price of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Ghazouani is in tour to the UAE.

Petrobras launches sale of stake in Papa-Terra field

Rio de Janeiro – Petrobras announced this Monday that it started the teaser phase for the sale of its entire stake in the Papa-Terra field in the offshore deep-water Campos Basin in Rio de Janeiro. The company is the field’s operator with a 62.5% stake, in partnership with Chevron, which owns the remaining 37.5%.
