Culture is the focus of this Monday (8) ANBA Bulletin. Learn that the 17th Paraty International Literary Festival (FLIP) will feature two performances based on the book “Amal e a viagem mais importante de sua vida” (Amal and the most important trip in her life), a fictional piece that tells the story of a 12-year-old Syrian girl who leaves her country on her own to meet her uncle and aunt in Italy, passing through Turkey and Greece along the way. Authored by Carolina Montenegro and illustrated by Renato Moriconi, it was adapted by Isabel Malzoni. The performance will include a boat ride starring the Syrian-Palestinian actress Oula Al-Saghir, a staging of the book and a chat with Saghir and Miguel Pachioni, public information associate at United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). There will also be a performance by the Orquestra Mundana Refugi. FLIP will run from July 10 to 14 in Paraty. “I believe there’ll be many rich debates, with children, teenagers and adults,” Pachioni said to the reporter Bruna Garcia.
And if you are spending the holiday of July 9 in São Paulo, a good option is the play “One Thousand and One Nights,” with the group Cia Teatro Voador Não Identificado at SESC Avenida Paulista. It’s a contemporary version of the book that combines Scheherazade’s tales and the life stories of Arab refugees in Brazil.
