This Thursday (25) in your ANBA Bulletin: The Arab Chamber hosted a webinar addressing the economic diplomacy and featuring diplomats from Brazil and the Arab countries. According to the discussions during the online conference, the relations and partnerships between the countries have been made even more relevant by the COVID-19 pandemic. The ambassadors and chargés d’affaires discussed how the Arab countries have dealt with the coronavirus crisis and how their relations with Brazil are right now. And Brazilian cosmetics company Agilise has broke into Jordan and signed a deal with a distributor in Iraq, Thais Sousa reported. And a story on Brazilian-descendant Rebecca Akl, who is an up-and-coming player in Lebanese basketball.

São Paulo – Some projects involving Brazil and the Arab countries were suspended or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the relations between the two regions have moved forward in several regards, and trade with some markets have even stepped up. Brazilian ambassadors to the Arab countries and Arab ambassadors to Brazil discussed the topic in webinar hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday (24).

São Paulo – Diplomacy and collaboration between countries have been made even more relevant by the Covid-19 pandemic. The way diplomatic relations helped sustain close ties between Brazil and the Arab countries was in discussion in a webinar hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce this Wednesday (24) and featuring diplomats from Brazil and the Arab countries. The webinar had some 800 viewers in Brazil and the world over.

São Paulo – Brazilian company Agilise Cosméticos has broken into Jordan, despite the pandemic. The brand has already sent two shipments to the Arab country and is preparing its third. Agilise has been in business for 14 years, dealing with professional hair products. Five years ago, the brand went international, and now it exports to countries such as Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Libya, and now Jordan.

 | São Paulo – The Lebanese-born Brazilian descendant Rebecca Akl is an up-and-coming player in Lebanese basketball. The daughter to a mother from Goiânia, Brazil and a Lebanese father, she was born and currently lives in Jbeil, north of Lebanon’s capital Beirut. Aged 27, she’s the captain of the national team and an ambassador for We are the Hope, an NGO charged with motivating young people – including vulnerable youths – to take up sports.

São Paulo – Only Muslims residing in Saudi Arabia will be allowed to take the Hajj this year, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the five pillars of Islam, the pilgrimage to Mecca will take place from July 28 to August 2, the state-run Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Brussels – Global merchandise trade fell by a record amount in the first months of the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but stopped short of a worst-case scenario, the World Trade Organization (WTO) said on Tuesday (23). The body had forecast in April that global trade in goods would fall by 13-32% in 2020, before rebounding by 21-24% in 2021.

São Paulo – A webinar in a live stream marathon hosted by Smart City Expo Curitiba this Thursday (25) featured Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce secretary-general Tamer Mansour (pictured above). He discussed how to foster trade between countries in times of social distancing, working from home, and restrictions on travel. The webinar’s host was iCities director and cofounder Beto Marcelino.
