Congress creates Brazil-Arab countries group

This Monday (9) in your ANBA Bulletin: last week saw the creation of the Brazil-Arab Countries Parliamentary Group. It will work to build rapport between the Brazilian Congress and the parliaments of Arab countries. The project relies on backing from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.

Brazil's startup company Cognisigns developed a software program that can diagnose autism. The company, which won the TIP Summit 2020 in Abu Dhabi, is set to open an office in the emirate by the end of the first half of 2020.  

Fourteen plants owned by food company BRF have been accredited to export product to Oman, and Syria has a tender open for foreign companies to supply heifers. 

And the Arab Brazilian Chamber postponed its Brazil & Arab Countries Economic Forum due to the coronavirus outbreak. The event was slated to take place in São Paulo on April 14. A new date will be announced soon.

Brazil-Arab Parliamentary Group created in Brasília

The Brazil-Arab Countries Parliamentary Group was established this Thursday (5) in Brasília, Distrito Federal. These groups are associations of parliamentarians that work to strengthen the relations between the Brazilian Congress and the parliament of one or more foreign countries. For now, the initiative brings together 31 senators and eight congresspeople and is supported by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.

Brazilian startup wants to diagnose autism around the world

Brazilian startup company Cognisigns developed a software program that can diagnose autism in children and adults. Established in Florianópolis (SC) a year and a half ago by neuroscientist Leandro Mattos and psychologist Andressa Robeda (pictured above), Cognisigns intends to map out autistic people in Brazil and the world over before they even show up at the doctor’s office.

Syria to tender heifers

An organization in Syria has announced a tender to purchase 1,500 pregnant heifers from both internal and external bidders. The tender is hold by the General Organization for Cattle based in Hama and provides for the purchase of other cattle-related products, too.

The world’s biggest poultry exporting company, BRF of Brazil, got cleared by Oman to ship product from 14 of its plants. The news broke on Thursday (5). BRF told ANBA that the Arab country revised its process: it used to give accreditation to entire countries, whereas now it clears each plant individually.

Brazil & Arab Countries Forum postponed

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce reported this Monday (9) that it chose to postpone the Brazil & Arab Countries Economic Forum, scheduled to take place on April 14, 2020 in São Paulo. The Chamber reported it will announce a new date soon and that the decision was made after careful analysis and consideration.

Poultry exports up 10%

Brazilian poultry exports were up 10% in volume last February from a year ago, Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) reported this Thursday (5). Brazil shipped 348,400 tonnes of the product last month, from 316,700 tonnes a year ago. The figure includes both unprocessed and processed meat.
