This Monday (11) in your ANBA Bulletin: The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce will host on Wednesday (13) a webinar featuring Brazil’s vice president Hamilton Mourão. The discussion will center around Brazilian-Arab relations in the global context ushered in by the coronavirus pandemic. And Emirates SkyCargo is resuming flight schedule to Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo. Emirates SkyCargo is the cargo division of carrier Emirates. The economic situation in Arab African country Djibouti stemming from the pandemic. The nation has lower exports of services and investments and will need IMF’s financing. In Libya, another Arab African country, oil exports have been seriously undermined by political instability. Exports of the commodity have dropped drastically.

São Paulo – Brazil’s vice president Hamilton Mourão will join on Wednesday (13) a webinar hosted by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. The online conference “Brazil will run from 11 am until noon, “Brazil and the Arab Countries: enhancing the agenda in the new global scenario.” The webinar will also feature the Arab Chamber’s president Rubens Hannun and vice presidents.

São Paulo – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Friday (8) approved a disbursement equivalent to USD 43.4 million to help Djibouti meet the balance of payment needs stemming from the coronavirus pandemic. The balance of payments is the record of all economic transactions between a country and the rest of the world, including imports, exports and financial transactions.

São Paulo – The diversification of Brazilian exports to the Arab world will be topic of the Agro 360 show of the Terra Viva channel of the Bandeirantes conglomerate to be aired next Monday (11) at 8:30 pm (BRT). It will address topics such as agribusiness, partnerships, investment, and history of trade relations. The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce will be featured.

New York – The United Nations (UN) more than tripled its appeal to help vulnerable countries combat the spread and destabilizing effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The Organization asked on Thursday (7) for $6.7 billion to help 63 states mainly in Africa and Latin America.

São Paulo – Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of UAE state-run carrier Emirates, is resuming its Dubai-Brazil flights. During the month of May, the carrier will fly weekly to Guarulhos International Airport (GRU). April had seen five special flights to Brazil carry Covid-19 test kits and other medical supplies.

São Paulo – Libya saw LYD 1.98 billion in oil export revenues year-to-date through April, an amount equivalent to roughly USD 1.4 billion, African news outlet Panapress reported quoting official Central Bank of Libya numbers. Libya is an Arab country located in the African continent.

São Paulo – World food prices fell for a third consecutive month in April, hit by the economic and logistical impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the United Nations food agency reported on Thursday (7). The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) food price index, which measures monthly changes for a basket of cereals, oilseeds, dairy products, meat and sugar, averaged 165.5 points last month, down 3.4%.
