Your ANBA Bulletin, coming out exceptionally on a Tuesday (12), features coverage of a visit of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Brazil to the state of Amazonas. During a meeting with the diplomats (pictured), governor Wilson Lima announced that he's planning to travel to Arab countries in February 2020. He also said he's attending the Brazil-Arab Countries Economic Forum, which the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce will host in April 2020.
“We want to enhance this partnership and promote economic and social development,” said Lima, in sync with the Arab Chamber mission statement of connecting Brazilians and Arabs to bring about economic, social and cultural development. “We’re very interested in this state and looking to increase trade,” said Palestine ambassador and Council dean Ibrahim Alzeben.
Arab Chamber Administrative VP Mohamad Mourad, who traveled with the diplomats, revealed that the Manaus Free Trade Zone Authority (Suframa) will also be represented at the Forum in April 2020. Check out our full coverage of the visit from Bruna Garcia.
In São Paulo, the Arab Chamber signed a memorandum of understanding with SP Negócios, the export and investment promotion agency of the city of São Paulo, during a cycle of lectures on Arab consumers. Chamber president Rubens Hannun said one of the MoU's goals is to bring São Paulo enterprises closer to the Arab market, as well as help add variety to exports from Brazil to the region.
