This Thursday in your ANBA Bulletin: The Global Halal Brazil business forum will run from December 6 through 8 in a hybrid format, with a physical part for guests in São Paulo. It aims at fostering the expansion of Brazilian halal production beyond animal protein and entry into new geographic niches like non-Arab Muslim countries and Islamic communities in Europe and the United States. Registration will open soon! Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro visited Bahrain and Qatar. He was received by local leaders in both countries and opened an embassy of Brazil in Manama. In Qatar, Bolsonaro visited a Cup stadium and went on a motorcycle ride NEON’s floating industrial complex will be built on the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia aiming at being an industrial development model, bringing together high-end logistics, jobs creation, and economic growth.

Doha: Brazil’s Bolsonaro praises development of GCC nations

The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, made statements this Wednesday (17) in Doha praising the development of the Arab countries he visited on his mission to the Gulf. Speaking to the press, after riding a motorcycle in the capital of Qatar, Bolsonaro said he had seen progress and development in the countries, and they are increasingly confident about Brazil. The president visited the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar.

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the World Logistics Passport (WLP). WLP is DP World’s rewards and incentives program that aims to facilitate global trade by reducing time and costs in exports.

Qatar Airways to launch nonstop Doha–Rio flight by February

Qatar’s flag carrier airline, Qatar Airways, will start operating nonstop flights from Rio de Janeiro to Doha by February next year, according to information disclosed by the Brazilian minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto, and senator Flávio Bolsonaro, who is the vice-chairman of the Brazilian Senate Regional Development and Tourism Committee. They accompany president Jair Bolsonaro on his appointments in Qatar this Wednesday (17).

Forum set to start a new phase for halal in Brazil

The first edition of Global Halal Brazil Business forum will run from December 6 through 8 aiming at taking Brazil to a new level in the halal market. The country is the world’s largest producer and exporter of halal protein but wants to advance into new industries and raise the awareness on its expertise in the field for new countries beyond the Arabs. Halal products and services are those fit for Muslim consumption.

Egypt growing as gas exporter

A report on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and hydrogen has showed that the highest increase in the volume of exports of the Arab countries in the third quarter of 2021 was posted in Egypt. Exports from Egypt reached approximately 1 million tonnes from 0.1 million tonnes a year ago. In 2020, spot prices were very low, thus making exports economically unviable.

Bolsonaro travels to Bahrain for first time, opens embassy

The streets of the city of Manama were displaying Brazil and Bahrain flags, side by side, this Tuesday (16) to receive the Brazilian presidential delegation. It was the first time a Brazilian head of state visited the Gulf country. Jair Bolsonaro and about 20 people from the mission to Dubai traveled to Bahrain for the official opening of the Brazilian Embassy in the Arab nation, the only one in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) that did not yet have a Brazilian embassy, and previously was represented by the diplomatic mission to Kuwait.

Saudi Arabia announced net-zero carbon floating complex

Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman announced on Tuesday (16) the launch of NEOM’s industrial city, known as OXAGON, which is set to be the largest floating industrial complex in the world. It’s located on the Red Sea close to the Suez Canal, and Saudi Arabia wants it to set global benchmarks in the adoption of state-of-the-art technology and environmental sustainability.
