Brazil could supply up to 48.7% of carbon market
This Monday (10) in your ANBA Bulletin: A study on the opportunities and challenges for Brazil in the carbon credit market was conducted by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Brasil) and consulting firm WayCarbon and presented last week in a leading-up event to COP27 at the headquarters of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC). World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Senior Membership, Commercial & Events Vice President Maribel Rodríguez gave an interview with ANBA. She talked about the Global Summit to be held from late November to early December in Saudi Arabia as a sign of the country’s willingness to welcome more tourists. And Lebanese films are being screened in São Paulo until October 22. Entrance is free.

Last January, Brazil lost one of his great masters of Arab culture and advocate of Eastern causes. An Egyptian who lived in Brazil for 40 years, Mohamed Ezz El-Din Mostafa Habib build a prominent academic career in biology and the environment and played a remarkable role to promote Arab culture and causes. On Thursday (6), his family received the title of Emeritus Professor on his behalf at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). Mohamed’s son Nader Habib said the title is an achievement not only for his father but for all society.

As a sign of its willingness to invest in tourism and make it a relevant sector in its economy, Saudi Arabia will host from November 28 to December 1st in Riyadh the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit, one of the world’s leading tourism events. In an interview with ANBA, WTTC senior Membership, Commercial & Events vice president Maribel Rodríguez (pictured) said that Saudi Arabia will have the fastest growth rate in tourism across the Middle East over the next ten years.

The participation of Brazil in the carbon market faces barriers like the low maturity of the country in the sector and regulation, but it also represents an opportunity, as the country’s capacity for generating credits is huge. So said a study conducted by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Brasil) and consulting firm WayCarbon. The survey projects that over the next decade Brazil could supply up to 48.7% of the global demand of the sector’s voluntary market and up to 28% of the global demand of the United Nations-regulated market.

The Institute of Arab Culture (ICArabe) and Clube Monte Líbano are holding the 1st Lebanese Film Festival until October 22 in São Paulo, with screenings on Saturdays. The opening was on the October 2 with the drama film Memory Box (2021, 102 min). The program is free and open to the public.
