This Thursday (28) in your ANBA Bulletin: Registration is open for the buyers program of Food Africa, a food trade show to take place in Egypt in December. In support of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Egypt in São Paulo, the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) receives applications of parties interested in participating in the show as importers. Appliers could be selected to win a free stay in a hotel and other benefits. João Doria, governor of São Paulo, is visiting the United Arab Emirates. On Wednesday (27) he was welcomed by the CEO of Emirates Airlines and participated in an event in Sharjah. On the occasion, Invest São Paulo signed a memorandum of understanding with Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. An agreement on air service was penned between Brazil and Bahrain last week by Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro, and the Brazilian government announced an auction of 55 million pre-salt oil barrels. Emirates to resume Dubai-São Paulo flights using A380

Dubai-based Emirates Airlines will resume using Airbus A380 aircraft for its daily flights between Dubai and São Paulo as of October 31. The announcement was made by the governor of the state of São Paulo, João Doria, who met with the CEO of Emirates Airlines, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, in a government building at Expo 2020 Dubai this Wednesday (27).

Representatives of public and private sector of Brazil’s state of Goiás are seeking to increase trade with Arab countries. To learn about the most promising industries, they met with representations of halal certifiers and the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) on Thursday (27). The meeting took place online as part of Goiás-Arab Countries Forum: Opportunities for Partnerships and Business.

Brazil enacts air services agreement with Bahrain

Last week, the president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, promulgated an agreement on air services signed between Brazil and Bahrain in 2018. The agreement was approved by the Brazilian National Congress in July this year, and the decree was published in the Brazilian Official Federal Gazette on October 21.

Expo: Egypt shows history, opportunities, future vision

Priest Psamtik’s painted wooden sarcophagus, dating from 3,800 years ago, was recently discovered in a tomb in the Saqqara region in Egypt and is one of the biggest attractions at Expo 2020 Dubai, on display in the Egypt Pavilion. The other pieces on display are replicas, such as the golden bust of Tutankhamun. The Pavilion located in the Opportunity District has the theme “Legacy empowering Future” and, in addition to showing the country’s legacy in objects, architecture, and videos telling its millenary history, presents business opportunities in the commercial, port, and export sectors, electronics industry, fish farms, and the Suez Canal.

Brazil to auction pre-salt oil

Pré-Sal Petróleo, a state-controlled company affiliated with the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Brazil, will hold on November 26 the 3rd Oil Auction of Brazil to sell 55 million state-owned oil barrels. The announcement was published on Tuesday (26) in the Official Gazette, and the auction will sell oil from the fields of Búzios, Sapinhoá, Tupi, and Mero Field Development.

Arab Brazilian Chamber deepening ties with Dubai’s entities

Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) president Osmar Chohfi and secretary-general Tamer Mansour had appointments with Dubai’s entities on Monday (25). In the morning, they met Dubai Industries and Exports CEO Saed Alawadi, Dubai Investment Development Agency (FDI) senior executive Humaid Al Nuaimi and Dubai Exports exporter services director Abdelrahman Al Hosani. These are both government agencies in the emirate that focus on exports and investments.

Artwork by Brazilian exhibited at the Great Pyramids

Visual artist João Trevisan is the only Brazilian to have his work exhibited in the surroundings of the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. The exhibition “Forever is Now” has ten selected works by artists from different countries. The Brazilian’s sculpture is entitled “The body that rises,” and he has the support of the Brazilian Embassy in Cairo.

Photobook on Lebanon launched in São Paulo, Rio

Photographer Bruno Bou Hay launched his book on Lebanon in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro last week. The book Deus também descansa [Portuguese for “God Also Rests”] was based on a trip to the Arab country his family came from. The book features pictures taken on his visit to Lebanon in 2019 and the personal archive of his grandparents as well as texts in Portuguese, English and Arabic.

Invest São Paulo, Sharjah Chamber sign MoU

João Doria, governor of the state of São Paulo, signed on Wednesday (27) a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for fostering business and mutually supporting trade relations between Invest São Paulo and Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) in the headquarters of the emirate’s entity. The delegation of São Paulo government was received by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, president of SCCI, and other officials. The appointment was part of the mission of Invest São Paulo to the UAE that aims at deepening trade, cultural and tourist ties with the Arab country. Invest São Paulo is the Investment and Competitiveness Promotion Agency of the State of São Paulo.

Brazilian beauty sector exports grew
| |

Brazilian exports of toiletries, perfumery, and cosmetics grew 22.1% in September compared to the same month last year, according to data released by the Brazilian Toiletry, Perfume, and Cosmetics Industry Association (ABIHPEC). The revenue obtained with the shipment of goods abroad was USD 65.3 million, above the USD 57.3 million registered in September 2020.
