During his time in Saudi Arabia, a Saudi fund announced it’ll invest USD 10 billion in different areas in Brazil and BRF reported it intends to build a plant in the Arab country. Riyadh – Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is planning to invest as much as USD 10 billion in Brazil. The announcement was made this Tuesday (29) by Brazil’s Foreign Minister Ernesto Araújo and Chief of Staff Onyx Lorenzoni, following a meeting between Jair Bolsonaro and Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh.

BRF announces it’ll open plant in Saudi Arabia

São Paulo – Brazilian food processor BRF announced this Tuesday (29) it’ll invest around USD 120 million to build its own plant in Saudi Arabia. The company press office reported they signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi officials to build the plant. The announcement was made during president Jair Bolsonaro’s travel to Saudi Arabia.

Brazil and Qatar reach visa waiver agreement

Riyadh – President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil spent this Monday (28) in Doha, Qatar, the second stop in his first tour of the Arab world, which began in the UAE and will end in Saudi Arabia. Documents signed during the visit include a mutual visa waiver agreement for business travelers, tourists and passengers in transit.

Elia Suleiman challenges Palestinian cinematic stereotypes

São Paulo – Filmmaker Elia Suleiman of Palestine plays some version of himself in all his movies. Currently in Brazil for the second time – he’d been to Rio de Janeiro in 2003 -, Suleiman accepted the Humanity Award at the São Paulo International Film Festival. Besides directing and acting, he handles screenwriting and production for his films. He spoke with ANBA about “It Must Be Heaven” – his latest offering and a possible nominee for Best Foreign Language Film in the Academy Awards –, his early career, his creative process, the Palestinian cause and the politics that permeate his work.

Publishers present Brazilian books in Sharjah

São Paulo – Contemporary literature for 18- to 30-years-old readers and children’s books are some of Brazilian books that interested the Arab market the most. That’s the perception from Brazilian Book Chamber (CBL) International Relations manager Fernanda Dantas during her stay in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, this week. “They are looking for potential new contemporary authors that may become huge bestsellers,” Dantas told ANBA on the phone from Sharjah.
