Women of Brazil Group creates branch in Dubai
This Thursday (1) in your ANBA Bulletin: Women of Brazil Group has opened a branch in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Initiative heads, including businesswoman Luiza Trajano, participated in an event at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce this week, in which executives from the companies BRF, Mac Jee, and FAME also shared their business experiences with the Arab world.
Brazil's Marcopolo sold 22 buses to Sharjah, one of the UAE's emirates. Representatives of the Sharjah Road & Transport Authority (SRTA), the buyer, came to Brazil for a technical visit to the Brazilian industry. The delegation was received this week at the Arab Brazilian Chamber.
Egyptian fertilizer industry Magic Green intends to expand its production capacity and portfolio and sell to Brazil.

The businesswoman heading one of the market-leading retail chains in Brazil and who founded the group that brings together over 100,000 women shared her life story this Wednesday (31) at an event at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) headquarters in São Paulo. Praising the fast pace of everything that happens in the Arab world, Luiza Helena Trajano brought a message of optimism to the participating entrepreneurs and about the importance of female contribution to public policies.

The Women of Brazil Group [Grupo Mulheres do Brasil], chaired by businesswoman Luiza Helena Trajano, created a hub in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. This Wednesday (31), the entrepreneur participated in a roundtable at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) headquarters in the city of São Paulo and met with the institution’s heads to discuss the rapprochement of the group with the Arab world. The group is a partner of the ABCC women’s committee WAHI – Women Who Inspire.

A wall in front of São Paulo state’s Immigration Museum was transformed into windows with eight characters from different backgrounds to celebrate the diversity of migrants and refugees in Brazil. The newest work by artist Eduardo Kobra is the 736-square-meter mural ‘Windows Open to the World’ [‘Janelas Abertas para o Mundo’], located in the Mooca neighborhood on the east side of São Paulo city. Among the real people portrayed in the vibrant colors that are the artist’s signature, three are Arabs from Libya, Palestine, and Iraq. The others are from Venezuela, Angola (2), and India (2).

The Sharjah Roads & Transport Authority (SRTA) representatives are in Brazil for a technical visit to the Brazilian Marcopolo bus body factory. About three months ago, the manufacturer sold 22 buses to Sharjah, in the United Arab Emirates. The Volvo-chassis fleet will be used for lines crossing between different cities. SRTA purchased the vehicles through Al Futtaim Auto & Machinery Company (Famco), representing Marcopolo in the UAE and Qatar.

Brazilian Patricia Teixeira Santos was nominated for an award by Sudanese and European institutions studying the Arab country. The recognition came due to of one of Santos’ books, titled ‘Faith, War, and Slavery: A History of the Colonial Conquest of Sudan’ [‘Fé, guerra e escravidão: Uma história da conquista colonial do Sudão’].

This week, on August 29, the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies approved the creation of the Brazil-Bahrain Parliamentary Group. The project to create the group had already been approved by the Senate in July. The initiative aims to foster international cooperation between parliamentarians from both countries.

Egyptian company Green Magic submitted a request to the local Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation to obtain a license to produce new types of fertilizers to export. The company intends to make mono-fertilizers, the simple, unmixed, or direct types containing only a single element. Among the fertilizers Green Magic already produces are compound products focused on vegetable and flower growth.

After a substantial recession in 2020 and a solid 7.1% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rebound in 2021, Palestine is expected to slow its economic growth to 4% this year, according to an assessment carried out by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) team, which visited the country from August 16 to 28, led by the deputy head of division in the Middle East and Central Asia Department and head of mission to the West Bank and Gaza, Alexander Tieman.

Alejandro Bitar, the Lebanese consul-general in Rio de Janeiro, met on Monday (29) with Brazilian writer Carlos Nejar to kickstart the creation of the 1st Lebanese Brazilian Academy of Literature, Arts and Sciences in Brazil. Nejar is a highly respected Brazilian writer and a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters.

The Egyptian government will put into effect in September a new social package to alleviate the impact of the global crisis on the country’s citizens, primarily those with lower income. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi approved an EGP 11 billion (about USD 575 million at the current rate) grant.

Brazilian manufacturers of leather and footwear parts saw USD 253 million in exports from January to July this year, up 20% from the same months in 2021, the Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods (Assintecal) reported.
