Daughter of a Palestinian father, she talked to reporter Bruna Garcia on her Arab background, her work and the scenario in Brazil. “Seeing my parents go to work and coming home late surely was an influence. It was an inspiration to us,” she said. And a report by Thais Sousa on the increase of Brazilians traveling to Jordan and the increase of overnight stays in the Arab country. Brazilians taking more frequent, longer trips to Jordan

São Paulo – The number of Brazilians who traveled to Jordan in H1 2019 increased by 39.8% from a year ago. Overall, 9,371 tourists visited the Arab country year-to-date through July. The data were made public this month by Jordan Tourism Board. Year-to-date, overnight stays also saw a significant increase, up 27.6% year-on-year.

USP to host symposium on Egyptology

São Paulo – The University of São Paulo (USP) is hosting from September 9 to 11 the 1st International Egyptology Symposium, at the Nicolau Sevcenko Auditorium at the School of Philosophy, Language and Human Sciences (FFLCH), in São Paulo. Scholars on the subject from across Brazil and elsewhere, including researchers from universities in the United Kingdom and Argentina.

Saudi Arabia moves to spur entertainment industry

São Paulo – Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA) launched an online system to streamline licenses for entertainment businesses and activities. GEA operations director Sultan Al Fakeer said the purpose is to encourage investment in the industry, “which is vital and promising.”

Economic growth forecast improves

 | Brasília – A poll of Brazilian financial market players shows expected economic growth picking up and inflation easing. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) forecast in the Central Bank’s weekly Focus Bulletin moved from 0,80% to 0.87% in 2019.
