São Paulo – Brazilian manufacturers of leather and shoe parts saw USD 223.6 million in foreign sales revenue from January to October of this year, up 35% from the same months in 2015.
The amount concerns sales made by companies affiliated with the Footwear Components by Brasil project, designed to boost industry exports.
The project is an initiative of the Brazilian Association Leather, Footwear and Related Items Manufacturers (Assintecal) and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
According to promotional material released by the project’s organizers, leather and shoes industry parts suppliers “are standing from the pack by relying on exports as a path towards business diversification and market expansion.”
In October alone, the project’s companies grossed USD 18.8 million from exports, up 1% from September and 40% from October 2015.
According to Footwear Components by Brasil, its associates accounted for 41.3% of total industry exports from Brazil in October.
The goods were sold to 77 different countries, with major buyers including China, Argentina, India, Germany and Mexico.
