São Paulo – Last Monday (28th), the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas sent a letter of condolences to the president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, for the death of 231 people in a fire last Sunday (27th) in Santa Maria, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
“On behalf of the State of Palestine, its people and myself, I hereby express my deepest condolences and sincerest sympathy to the victims of the tragic, painful accident that took place in the city of Santa Maria/Rio Grande do Sul, leading to the death of dozens of Brazilian citizens,” the letter reads.
Abbas manifests “unrestricted solidarity” to Rousseff, “the friendly Brazilian people,” the government “and the mourning families,” as he calls on “God almighty to cover the victims with his infinite mercy, and to grant the wounded a speedy recovery.”
