São Paulo – Agribusiness exports from Brazil amounted to USD 8.48 billion in October, up 5.7% from October 2017, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply reported.
The top-selling products were soybeans, bran and oil, meats, forest products, sugar and ethanol, and cereals, flours and their products. These categories accounted for a combined 75.9% of total industry exports.
Soybeans, bran and oil exports were up 78.8% year-on-year in October to USD 2.62 billion. Meats exports slid by 5% to USD 1.35 billion. Forest products exports grossed USD 1.02 billion, up 10.2% and driven by wood pulp sales.
Foreign sales of sugar and ethanol were down 37.1%, while those of cereals, flours and their products – especially maize – slid by 21.8%.
Year-to-date through October, agribusiness exports from Brazil came out to USD 84.95 billion, up 3.6% from a year ago.
