São Paulo – Brazilian agribusiness exports added up to US$ 17.1 billion in the first five months of the year, with an increase of 7% over the same period in 2005. The value is a record for the periods from January to May. Imports totalled US$ 2.5 billion, generating a surplus of US$ 14.6 billion for the sector.
In May, agribusiness exported US$ 3.8 billion, an increase of 3.7% over the same month last year. The highlights in sales were fruit juice, paper and cellulose, leather and leather products, as well as cereals.
