Brasília – The Gross Production Value (VBP) of agriculture in 2015 totaled, from January to September, BRL 481.4 billion (USD 126.69 billion), an increase of 1.3% over the same period of last year, already inflation-adjusted. The data was released this Thursday (15th) by the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
Agricultural production contributed with BRL 309.2 billion/USD 81.37 billion (+0.8%), and livestock with BRL 172.2 billion/USD 45.32 billion (+2.2%). This year’s VBP is the highest of the series that began in 1989, says the general coordinator of Studies and Analysis of the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy, José Gasques.
According to Gasques, crops with the best results are: onion (+183.6%), black pepper (+64.1%), soy (+4.9%), maize (+4.2%), wheat (+1.1%) and cotton (+1.1%). In livestock, the best results comes from beef (+7.8%), pork (+3.2%) and eggs (+1.3%).
