São Paulo – Yesterday (19), during Farnborough International Air Show, in the United Kingdom, Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer announced the that it had managed to convert nine Republic Airways Holdings and Trans States (both US airlines) purchase options into firm orders. The former ordered two units of the Embraer 170 and the latter ordered seven ERJ 145 model jets.
The Brazilian company also announced that it had signed a trade proposal with Luxair, from Luxembourg, for the sale of two ERJ 135 aircraft, to be confirmed in coming weeks and with delivery forecasted for the first quarter of 2005.
The Embraer 170 is part of a new family of regional jets produced by the aircraft maker, and has a capacity for the transport of up to 78 passengers. The ERJ 145 is also a regional jet, however it is an older model, and is a 50-seater. The ERJ 135 is part of the same family and can transport up to 37 people.
