São Paulo – This Thursday (22nd), Boeing, Embraer and Airbus signed a memorandum of understanding to develop aviation biofuels capable of yielding cost and performance similar to petroleum derivatives.
Signed in Geneva, Switzerland, during the Aviation & Environment Summit, the agreement sets forth that the three companies will cooperate with biofuel manufacturers and governments to speed up the development of new fuels. The industry aims to grow while keeping emissions steady after 2020, and to halve its emissions by 2050 compared with 2005.
“We are committed to taking on a leadership role in technological programs that may help in aviation biofuels being developed and effectively applied faster than if we were operating separately,” said the president of Embraer Commercial Aviation, Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva.
