Brasília – The number domestic and international arrivals at Brazilian airports reached an all-time high in July. Domestic arrivals reached 7.4 million, 8.1% more than the previous record (6.8 million), recorded in January. Domestic arrivals grew by 14.68% compared with the same month of last year. A total of 855,700 arrived in the country, as against 746,100 in July 2010.
According to a report of the Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company (Infraero), total domestic arrivals this year have also exceeded the result for the first seven months of 2010 combined. A total of 45.3 million passengers arrived at Brazilian airports, 21% more than in the same period of last year (37.5 million). Regarding passengers from international flights, arrivals grew from 4.4 million in 2010 to 5.2 million this year (+18.2%).
“If the rate of growth is maintained, we should exceed 7.7 million arrivals by the end of 2011, surpassing 2010 figures by 9 million,” said the minister of Tourism, Pedro Novais, in a press statement.
