São Paulo – Algeria’s men’s soccer team lost its Rio 2016 Summer Olympics tournament opener this Friday (4). Honduras beat the Algerians 3-2 in a match played at Engenhão stadium, Rio de Janeiro. Another Arab national team, Iraq, drew a scoreless tie with Denmark in a match held at Mané Garrincha stadium, Brasília.
Next Sunday (7), Iraq will face Brazil, which played this Thursday and also had a 0-0 tie with South Africa. The game will be played in the federal capital. Algeria will face Argentina at Engenhão, also on Sunday.
The men’s and women’s soccer tournaments have started before the official opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, scheduled for next Friday (5).
