São Paulo – The Qatari ambassador to Brazil, Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Abdullah, received a tribute from the Council of Arab Ambassadors to the country on the occasion he bade farewell to his post in Brasília. The Embassy of Palestine organized the ceremony on behalf of the Council this Wednesday (12) in the Brazilian capital.
The event had the participation of Arab diplomats, officials from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the vice president of International Relations of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), Mohamad Mourad.
According to disclosed information, the ambassador of Palestine to Brazil, Ibrahim Alzeben, who is also dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors to Brazil, praised the work of ambassador Al-Abdullah, the singular representation of his country in Brazil and the support for council activities.
“How difficult it is to shorten the distance of over five years of relationship, coexistence, and joint work with an illustrious ambassador who, in all respects, was a supporter of the council and defender of the Palestinian cause,” he said.
The diplomat’s performance was also praised by the secretary for Africa and the Middle East of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Sobral Duarte, who attended the ceremony. Mourad, from the ABCC, highlighted Al-Abdullah’s role in strengthening trade between the two countries, which surpassed USD 1.5 billion in 2022.
The Qatari ambassador thanked the Council and expressed his satisfaction in fulfilling his duties, despite the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said he would bring the best memories of Brazil and its friendly people.
