São Paulo – Journalist Isaura Daniel, of the Brazil Arab News Agency (ANBA), received the ABCR Journalism Award in the Internet category, granted by the Brazilian Association of Highway Concessionaires (ABCR), on Monday (24) evening, in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná. The awarding ceremony took place at Hotel Bourbon Cataratas, and was part of the CBR&C Brasvias, a sector congress that ends on Wednesday (26).
She was awarded for article “Ready to resurface”, published in July this year, about the opportunities for investors, especially foreign, in the area of road concession in Brazil.
The award was handed out by the region director of the ABCR in Rio Grande do Sul, Paulo Oiama de Macedo Silva. This was the 11th journalism award won by ANBA in its eight years in operation.
The agency was established by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce with the objective of simplifying communication between Brazilians and Arabs, showing the business opportunities and the economic and cultural reality of both regions.
The site publishes in English and Portuguese and receives around one million page views each month. ANBA has content exchange partnerships with press agencies in seven Arab countries and in Brazil.
For the award, the ABCR chooses the best articles published in Brazilian press and covering the highway infrastructure of the country. Texts are nominated in four categories: Internet, Tele-journalism, Print and Radio-journalism, and a special award is also granted.
In Tele-journalism, the winners were Jaderson Pires, Fabiani Assunção, Monica Carvalho, Eriberto Pereira, Pedro Guimarães and Ivanildo Araújo, of program TV Jornal, by the SBT television network branch in Pernambuco. In the Print category, the winner was Roberta Soares, from Jornal do Commercio, of Recife. In Radio-journalism the winner was Elói Oliveira, of Radio BandNews FM of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais.
The special award was won by Fabio Buchmann, of Radio CBN in Curitiba, Paraná, for article “Rescuing Fauna”.
At the event, the ABCR president, Moacyr Duarte, said that the 10 best highways in Brazil are operated by private initiative in the concession regime. He also spoke about the free flow system, which is being studied by the sector, allowing for satellite monitoring of roads, which will in turn make it possible to bill a greater number of users, paving the way for further investment.
