São Paulo – With the objective of adding value and increasing São Paulo state rubber export, the president of the Brazilian Export Promotion Agency (Apex), Juan Quirós, and the president of the Union of the Industry of Rubber Devices in the State of São Paulo (Sindibor), Edgard Solano Marreiros, will be signing an agreement for technical and financial cooperation today (15).
With investment of US$ 480,000 and actions for promotion, the sector hopes to increase export in the short term. The target is to increase the number of companies in the state that export from 17 to 25 this year, as well as increasing the value of in rubber products exported from U$ 560,000 to US$ 610,000. Among the main targets are the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Germany, France, and the United States.
The first opportunity businessmen will have to make direct contact with importers, after the agreement with Apex, will be in April, during the International Fair of Technology, Machinery and Rubber Products (Expobor) and the International Fair of Technology and Equipments for Tyre Retreading (Recaufair), at Expo Center Norte in the most industrialized city in Brazil, São Paulo. Visitors from 30 countries are expected.
With around 1,400 companies, 90% small, the domestic rubber product sector presented a net result of US$ 1.37 billion in 2003, of which 10.3% were related to export. The auto industry represents 52% of business in the sector and should rise between 4% and 5% in 2004. The rubber market in Brazil generates 41,000 direct jobs, 25,000 just in the State of São Paulo, and makes it possible for 110,000 indirect professionals to work.
