Brasília – Brazilian importers will be able to keep track of their cargo using mobile phones and tablets. The Federal Revenue will launch an application that enables real-time tracking of imported goods with no digital certificates needed.
The app will be available on Friday (20th) on Android-based mobiles. Over the next five to ten days, the iOS version will be released. This is due to the fact that the Brazilian Federal Revenue is waiting for Apple to validate the app.
For the most part, the tool will be used by importing companies, and eventually natural persons making direct imports will also be able to monitor their processes. The Federal Revenue, however, notes that the application is not available to consumers who make purchases on foreign websites.
According to the Federal Revenues secretary Carlos Alberto Barreto, the app will provide greater safety and transparency to import processes. “The process will have increased transparency in all phases of the importing process. From the cargo’s arrival to the port or airport to storage and clearance, the importer will be able to keep track of everything,” he said.
