Brasília – The Brazilian trade surplus reached US$ 1.283 billion in April, as informed today (3rd) by the country’s Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Even though the monthly surplus was the highest this year, the figure (US$ 3.693 billion) is 65.2% lower than in April 2009.
In January, there was a trade deficit of US$ 169 million. In February, the trade surplus was US$ 393 million and in March, US$ 668 million. In April this year, exports totalled US$ 15.161 billion and imports, US$ 13.878 billion.
From January until April, the trade surplus was US$ 2.175 billion, a figure 67.4% lower than the one recorded in the same period of 2009 (US$ 6.681 billion). In the first four months of the year, exports totalled US$ 54.390 billion and imports, US$ 52.215 billion.
