Cairo – The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, led by Ahmed El Wakil, welcomed a delegation from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) made up by Regional director Michael Gamal Kadis and International Relations director Rania Mohamed Hagrass to discuss means of cooperation.
The meeting also featured Alexandria Chamber vice president Ahmed Sakr, treasurer Yasser Al-Manawishi, and board members Al-Budaiwi El Sayed, Sherif Al-Jaziri, and Mahmoud Maree.
During the meeting Sakr expressed his willingness to cooperate with the ABCC regional office in Cairo to strengthen Egypt-Brazil trade and economic ties.
Sakr stressed that the Alexandria Chamber is always willing to cooperate to develop Egypt’s economic and trade sector.
Among the points discussed for the cooperation between the two chambers, the executives agreed to hold further meetings in the future aimed at developing economic relations as well as overcoming obstacles that businesspeople face.
Michael Gamal said that this is the first visit of its kind to take place out of the ABCC office in Cairo and that he believes in the competency of the Alexandria Chamber and its influence in the Egyptian private sector.
Gamal highlighted that the ABCC is one of the oldest chambers worldwide, as it has celebrated its 70th anniversary earlier this year. The Regional director also talked about the activities and the current role of the Brazilian institution, stressing that there’s a cooperation opportunity in Egypt-Brazil trade. He said that Brazil has been very receptive to products from Egypt, as many items from the North African state have been widely spread around the country.
He emphasized that exports from Egypt to Brazil climbed from USD 126 million in 2017 to USD 540 million in 2021 due to the conclusion of trade agreements between the two countries.
He added that a trade mission from Egypt to Brazil was held in July and had a positive impact to all Egyptian companies that participated in the initiative. Gamal finished by adding that the ABCC can provide its services to the Alexandria Chamber, including marketing studies and B2B meetings between Egyptian and Brazilian businesspeople.
