Brasília – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce offered dinner yesterday (12) at the Brasília Alvorada Park Hotel to honour the coming of the minister of Trade and Industry of Egypt, Rachid Mohamed Rachid, to Brazil. The event was attended by 40 people, including the Egyptian delegation, Arab ambassadors to Brasília (capital of Brazil) and representatives of embassies.
Arab Brazilian Chamber representatives present in the event were the secretary general, Michel Alaby, and the Foreign Relations vice president, Helmi Nasr, who thanked all those in attendance and spoke of the importance of teaching the Portuguese language in Arab countries. “I call upon ambassadors to discuss with the governments in their home countries to introduce the teaching of the Portuguese language in Arab schools, the same as I introduced the Arabic language in the University of São Paulo (USP)”, stated Nasr, who was born in Egypt, but has lived in Brazil for 46 years.
This morning, the Egyptian delegation that accompanies minister Rachid is going to meet with the Brazilian minister of Mines and Energy, Edison Lobão. Late in the afternoon, the Egyptians should head to Belo Horizonte, capital of the state of Minas Gerais.
