São Paulo – Leaders of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) discussed on Wednesday (3) in the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce in Riyadh the creation of Brazil-Saudi Arabia Business Council. ABCC president Osmar Chohfi, secretary-general & CEO Tamer Mansour, regional advisor Shaheen Ali Shaheen and Dubai office head director Rafael Solimeo are having appointments for two days in Saudi Arabia.
The group was welcomed by Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce chairperson Ajlan bin Abdulaziz Al Ajlan and assistant secretary Walid Al Arian as well as other executives and members of the institution. Business councils, like the one discussed in the meeting, usually consist of businesspeople and private sector entities and work towards bolstering trade and investments between countries and regions.
The establishment of an ABCC office in Riyadh was another topic of the discussions in the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce. The ABCC plans on establishing a headquarters in the country. The institution has an office in Dubai and launched on in Cairo, Egypt, last September.
During the meeting, the Saudis were invited to attend the Economic Forum Brazil-Arab Countries to be held next July in Brazil by the ABCC. The forum’s 2018 edition attracted a large delegation of Arab businesspeople and authorities to Brazil. Last year, when it took place online, it got some 10,000 viewers from 61 countries.
Besides the meeting in the federation, the ABCC delegation also had a meeting in the Tax and Customs Authority, which saw discussions on the switch to digital of trade customs clearance between the countries. This is expected to take place via Easy Trade, a blockchain system that’s part of ABCC’s Ellos digital platform. During the meeting in Riyadh, it was agreed that technical meetings will start to implement the system.
