São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce is going to participate in three important trade fairs in the Arab countries this month: the International Tripoli Fair, in Libya; Djazagro – International Agrofood Fair, in Algeria, and Healthcare, in Syria.
The multisectoral fair in Tripoli congregates the construction, infrastructure, telecommunications, pharmaceutical and veterinary products, cleaning and hygiene products, and agricultural equipment sectors, among others. The event, to be held from April 20th to 30th, ranks among the most traditional ones in Africa and the Arab world.
The Tripoli fair will count on the participation of Brazilian companies Grendene, a shoe manufacturer, and Tigre, a maker of pipes and connections. According to the secretary general of the Arab Brazilian Chamber, Michel Alaby, the business outlook is good. Both Grendene and Tigre are companies that possess vast international market experience. "We will try to gain access to markets and make contacts," says Alaby.
The fairs in Algeria and Libya, on the other hand, will be attended by the Chamber for the first time. Djazagro, a food and beverage fair, is held since 2003 and had its best results ever last year, with 352 direct exhibitors and over 415 brands represented. Brazilian companies Gomes da Costa and Mococa will participate in the fair.
This year, the event will run from April 12th to 15th. The Arab Brazilian Chamber is going to assemble a 96-square-metre stand for the Brazilian companies, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Relations. According to Alaby, considering that this is the first participation, one of the objectives is to gain better knowledge of the Algerian food market through the fair.
From April 15th to 18th, the Healthcare fair in Syria is going to bring together medical equipment and products wholesalers and distributors. In 2009, the event brought together 125 companies, representing 480 brands from 42 countries. The Arab Brazilian Chamber and the Brazilian Embassy in Damascus are also organizing a programme on the sidelines of the fair, including a visit of the delegation to the Ministry of Health.
"The goal is to help Brazilian companies gain greater insight on the Syrian healthcare market, to provide companies with a more precise picture of the reality of the market," explains Alaby. The participation is organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber and the Brazilian foreign office (Itamaraty).
