São Paulo – The CEO of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Michel Alaby, and the organization’s director of Government Relations, Tamer Mansour, went on a tour through Middle East countries for meetings with companies, sector associations and government agencies. One of the goals of the business trip was to introduce the online system for certification of origin and of export documents that the organization will implement this year. The project aims at making these services faster and easier, besides reduce costs.
The last stop of the trip was Beirut, Lebanon, on Thursday and Friday (20th), where they met with the secretary-general of The General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Arab Countries, Emad Shehab. According to Alaby, the project was fully approved by the Union already, an organization that comprises Arab chambers of commerce from around the world, including the Brazilian branch. Shehab asked for the system to be introduced in a plenum of the general secretaries of these organizations to be held this year.
Another issue discussed in the meeting was the mailing, by the Union, of letters addressed to the Ministries of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade and External Relations reinforcing that the Arab Chamber is the only organization in Brazil authorized to issue certification of origin and certification of export documents to Arab countries. The assistant secretary-general of the Union, Shaeen Ali Shaeen, and the advisor Hoda Katchan also attended the meeting.
Before, the representatives of the Arab Chamber were in Cairo, Egypt, where they attended a lunch with the head of the America Department of the League of Arab States, Ibrahim Moheildeen. The issue discussed was the forthcoming Summit of South American and Arab Countries (Aspa), scheduled for November, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
About the online certification, Alaby and Mansour talked with assistant secretary-general for Economic Affairs of the Arab League, Mohamed Al Twajiri. The Arab Chamber invited the director of the multilateral Arab organization to come to Brazil for the launch of the system and to give a lecture about globalization and innovation.
In the previous days, Alaby and Mansour were in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates, as ANBA reported in articles published on February 12th and 18th.
