São Paulo – The fourth edition of the Create & Inspire competition from the NGO Crossway Foundation, in the United Kingdom, will award young Arab and British artists and has Brazil as inspiration. With the theme “The world is not black & white”, the competition will evaluate works with Brazil’s landscape colours and culture. The subscription deadline is June 12.
The competition is open to 16 to 25 year-old natives and residents of Qatar, Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and United Kingdom. The initiative is part of the 2014 Qatar-Brazil Year of Culture, promoted by the Qatar Museums Authority (QMA).
The award will have 12 winners coming to Brazil in September this year for a creative journey in which they will work with professional artists, photographers, curators, filmmakers, and musicians, to develop their abilities in leadership, communication and creativity. It will be a fifteen-day trip, in which the youngsters will visit Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Inhotim (MG) e Salvador (BA).
Four kinds of pieces are allowed: artwork (for example, street art, public sculpture, performance or painting); film (for example, a documentary, short film or animation); photographs and recordings (for example, a sound piece or musical performance).
The competitors will also have to present texts on how they came up with the idea for the project, and how the creative project relates to the theme: “The World is not Black & White“ and a short composition on why they want to take part in the trip to Brazil.
