São Paulo – The Arabic Language Center is organizing the Arab Hafla, an event with typical Arab food and music and cultural workshops on October 6, a Saturday, from noon to 6 pm, at the restaurant Bet Jeddi (‘The Home of My Grandfather’), in the north part of São Paulo (near mall Shopping D). Hafla, in Arabic, means party. Admission is free and registrations are open.
For lunch, the Hafla will offer three types of Arab dishes, the Kebab (picture above), an Arab barbecue with French fries, Arab salad and spreads; the Shish Taouk, chicken breast barbecue with fries, Arab salad and spreads and a surprise vegan dish. The price of each dish is BRL 35 (USD 8.98) with beverages not included.
After 4 pm, there will be free workshops of Arabic calligraphy with professor Anas, of Arab make-up with professor Yamam and of Eastern Dance with professor Rayara.
“Hafla is open to students, former students and those interested in the Arab culture,” said Mohamad Alsaheb, professor and founder of the Arabic Language Center. “We only ask that those interested to fill the registration form because we’re expecting over one hundred people and we need to be prepared,“ he said.
