One of the Egyptian movies being shown, "Ibrahim Labyad", placed its director, Marwan Hamed, in the young director competition. Hamed is one of the young directors from Egypt, aged 32.
"Yacoubian building", the first long movie by Hamed, granted director Adel Iman the best actor award in 2006, in the 30th edition of the festival. The same production was also elected best first movie in the Tribeca, Nova York and Montreal Festivals.
The other Arab films being shown are "Whisper with the wind", from Iraq, and "Scherazade, tell me a story", from Egypt. The exhibition sites and times of the movies may be found at site www.mostra.org.
