São Paulo – A boy with no personality, a consumerist girl, a man who cannot relate to other people and a very vain princess. These four stories, all in the Arab world, will be presented to the infant public at Sesc Santo Amaro from April 21st to 28th. They were established by group Caixa de Histórias, from São José dos Campos, which sought inspiration in the Arabian Nights to deal, amidst the desert, camel trips and trips to Arab markets, with current themes.
One of the actresses and authors of the plays, Karina Müller, tells that the group decided to create this show while studying the Arabian Nights. Although they did not truly use the stories of Scheherazade to save her own life from the destination chosen by sultan Shariar, the creator of the spectacle used the narrative technique and the descriptions of environments narrated in the book. Since it opened, in 2009, the show has already been enacted in São Paulo, Jacareí and Sorocaba, among other cities.
One of the stories, Abu, the man nobody sees, tells the story of a man who finds it hard to relate to others. Amina, the girl who bought the world is a consumerist princess who, although she has all the material goods she desires, is lacking in the most important values. The story of Badna, the princess who became a star shows the problems that the excessive vanity of a princess brings her. Harun, the incomparable, in turn, is a boy who does not value himself, does not recognise himself and wishes to be like other people.
“The story [of the Arabian Nights] incudes themes that called our attention. We studied the narrative of this book and identified that we could not ignore it [in the development of shows]. The Arabian Nights is a unique story, completely different from what is portrayed in fairy tales, but which also works with the values of humanity,” pointed out the actress.
The plays were written by Glauce Carvalho, Karina Müller, Marcio Douglas and Orlando Salles. The director is Marcio Douglas. And the cast is Karina Müller, Orlando Salles and Glauce Carvalho.
