São Paulo – Morocco and Dubai will promote their tourism sector to a Brazilian audience at the 43rd Abav – International Tourism Expo (Abav Expo), tourism fair to be held from September 24 to 26th at Parque Anhembi, in the city of São Paulo. The Morocco will be represented by the official tourism agency of the Arab country. Also attending is a tourism operator from the United Arab Emirates, Northtours, which will present a lecture on how to sell Dubai as destination.
The exhibition is promoted by the Brazilian Travel Agencies Association (Abav), organization with more than 3,500 travel agencies as members. It gathers annually 3,500 exhibitors, from 65 countries, among airlines, cruise line companies, official tourism offices, tourism routes, car rentals, hotel chains, tourism operators, IT companies focused on the sector, sector’s associations, among other organizations.
Last year, the fair received 42,000 visitors, among travel operators and other professional of the sector, besides 1,200 invited buyers. According to a survey by the association, of the total of visitors, 61% came from travel agencies and 13% from tourism operators. The fair is oriented towards professionals of the sector and it’s not open for the general public.
The exhibition is organized by Promo Inteligência Turística and holds debates about topics of the sector in a congress called Vila do Saber (Knowledge Villa). The topics include tourism entrepreneurship, consumer behavior, religious tourism, management systems, among others. Just like Dubai, there will be presentations about other destinations. The Northtours lecture takes place on September 24th, at 5 PM, according to the programming released by the organization.
In Morocco, tourism is an important source of revenues. In all, 10.3 million tourists were welcomed last year and the sector generated around US$ 6 billion, according to date released by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (MNTO). There was an increase of 3% in revenues. Dubai also has a strong tourism economic activity and is known worldwide for its luxury attractions, such as large resorts, shopping malls and artificial islands.
Up to last Friday (28th), only these two Arab destinations were confirmed to attend the 43rd Abav Expo, but the organization was still receiving registrations by exhibitors.
