São Paulo – The second edition of the tourism fair World Travel Market Latin America starts next Tuesday (23rd) with the participation of at least five Arab authorities on tourism and13 companies from the region. The exhibit will be held in São Paulo and, according to the organizers, it should receive 1,300 exhibitors. From the Arab countries, tourism authorities from Jordan, Egypt, Morocco and Dubai and Abu Dhabi emirates have confirmed their presence.
Along with the Egyptian Tourist Authority will be coming Aton Travel, Eagle Travel, Taba Travel and Watania Tours. The Jordan Tourism Board, from the Jordan Ministry for Tourism, will promote the country’s destinations, with the company Ijaza Way Tours and Travel. The Official Delegation for Tourism from Morocco will also be coming to promote the cities of the North African country and will bring at least two travel companies, ASK Morocco Travel and Sun & Sea Travel.
The United Arab Emirates will be represented by the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and by the Tourism & Culture Authority of Abu Dhabi (TCA). Emirates Airline, from Dubai, and Etihad Airways, from Abu Dhabi, will also take part in the event. The goal of the organizations is to increase the number of Brazilian tourists who travel and stay overnight in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Focus on Latin Americans
According to information from the TCA, 1,612 Brazilians stayed at hotels in Abu Dhabi in the first two months of this year, an increase of 83% in comparison to the same period in 2013. Brazilians’ stays in the emirate averaged at 3.34 nights.Brazilians spent a total of 5,389 nights in Abu Dhabi, 37% more than in January and February 2013.
One of the companies coming to the fair with the TCA, Oryx International Tourism LLC, has a representative in Brazil with the objective of attracting more tourists to Abu Dhabi. Last year, Brazilians who bought travel packages from the company spent 500 nights in the emirate. The company’s goal for this year is to expand this period to 2,000 nights.
The Jumeirah at Etihad Towers hotel will use this event as an opportunity to attract more guests from Latin America to Abu Dhabi. According to information from the general manager of the hotel, Doris Greif, released in a statement by the TCA, the number of Latin-American guests is increasing and Brazilians, Argentineans and Mexicans correspond to 80% of the total.
The WTM is one of the tourism fairs organized by Reed Expo and attracts operators and suppliers of business and leisure tourism, domestic and international and even luxury. The first edition of the WTM Latin America was held last year and attracted 1,250 exhibitors from 60 countries and 8,100 visitors. During the WTM it will take place the 41st Commercial Meeting of the Braztoa – Brazilian Association of Tourism Operators (41º Encontro Comercial Braztoa – Associação Brasileira de Operadoras de Turismo, in Portuguese) and conferences on market trends, digital business tools and responsible tourism.
