São Paulo – The cosmetics industry is always creating rejuvenation and beauty products. Historical beauty icons often provide inspiration for new formulas to be created. Such is the case of gold lifting, a treatment inspired in one of the rituals of Egyptian queen Cleopatra. “Some historical records show that she used to sleep wearing a gold mask to prevent aging,” says cosmetologist Janaína Lacava, who is in charge of development and treatment at the Deep Laser advanced aesthetics centre, in the city of São Paulo.
The treatment promises to enlighten and bring vitality back to skins that have already been affected by time.”The process ensures a rejuvenation of almost 10 years, is effective in cell regeneration, protects against free radicals and makes the skin energized and revitalized,” explains Janaína.
According to her, the difference is noticeable after the first session. “The skin becomes clerer, more silky and hydrated, and wrinkles and expression lines are reduced. The gold mask also contains calcium, a mineral that hydrates and makes the skin more resistant,” she finishes off. The clinic has been doing gold lifting for around a year, and the treatment is among the most sought after by the clients. “Everyone loves it because you can tell the different right away,” says the cosmetologist.
According to her, the process is completely pain-free and recommended to all of those dissatisfied about how their skin looks, especially people over 35. The treatment can be done at any time of the year, but sunscreen is required. The ideal is for five sessions to be made, at 10-day intervals. Each session costs 350 Brazilian reals (US$ 200).
Step by step
The lifting begins by clearing the skin to remove impurities, then a facial tonic that re-establishes the ph balance, nurtures and hydrates. A light peeling is done, for about 15 minutes, renewing the cells and preparing the skin for a lymphatic drainage using C vitamin, which activates the skin metabolism and helps to whiten and rejuvenate it.
Next up, to encourage cell renewal, a concentrate of peptides (which result from amino acid bonding) is placed under the wrinkles to reduce expression lines and restructure the skin.
In order to make the skin firmer, a calcium concentrate is evenly spread over the more flaccid spots. In the 20 minutes that follow, an electrolifting is carried out, using equipment that aim to drain, firm, oxygenate, and promote absorption of the active principles found on the deeper layers of skin. To wrap it up, a gold and calcium mask is placed under the skin.
