São Paulo – Fruit pulp producer and exporter Bela Iaçá, headquartered in Castanhal, in the state of Pará, started foreign sales three months ago. In a short period it managed to win clients in the United States, Canada and Japan. Now, prepared to increase the demand and expand destination markets, the company is betting on winning the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.
"We always receive many visits by importers seeking the company to learn about our factory and verify the quality of our production. Our products are always well accepted by all," stated export manager Eliene Lima. According to her, assai pulp is the main product sold by the company, both on the international and on the local market. "Our assai pulp has already won great expression with the brand Açaí São Pedro. Our average production is over 70 tonnes a day, around 60% is already exported," he pointed out.
The factory also works with other fruit pulps like camu-camu, cupuaçu, acerola, passion fruit, pineapple, guava, cashew, graviola and cajá. According to Lima, the target is to expand contacts and business. To please foreign clients even further, the company has prepared a new line of products. The releases include assai with camu-camu, assai with organic sugar, assai with ginseng and ginko-biloba and also assai with protein. The new products are available in 100-gram bags.

The company was born from the dream of a family from Paraíba that moved to the state of Pará with the objective of growing and prospecting. Now the company is run by the second and third generation, generating around 100 direct and 400 indirect jobs.
"Bela Iaçá has modern installations reaching high quality production, aimed at continuously exceeding the expectations of its clients by supplying healthy and nutritious food," she guaranteed.
Assai
Due to its nutritious characteristics, assai is greatly appreciated worldwide. It is an important bas product in diets, as apart from nourishing, produces health benefits. It is rich in lipids, granting the drink an energy value double that of milk. It also presents a high level of potassium, calcium and fibres and a considerable value of proteins and vitamins in the B complex, which help maintain the health of nerves, skin, eyes, hair, liver and mouth, as well as toning muscles in the gastro-intestinal apparatus.
Assai also has an unbeatable combination that expresses great natural anti-oxidising values as examples of the anthocyanin that helps inhibit the formation of free radicals and cholesterol, favouring blood circulation and preventing aging, with these also being responsible for the natural pigmentation that grants assai its characteristic coloration (violet purple).
It is not by chance that the colour of assai is similar to that of red wine, although assai has over 33 times more anthocyanin than grapes. After being industrialised, assai may be used in the preparation of fruit mixes, ice cream, energy drinks, liqueur and sweets.
