São Paulo – From September 12th to 15th, the Brazilian Arabian Horse Breeders Association (ABCCA, in the Portuguese acronym) will hold the 20th International Arabian Horse Exhibition, in Avaré, in the state of São Paulo. The event will feature international breeders and is open to the public.
According to press release from the ABCCA, the show is a preview of the National Exhibition due in November, which is the largest event for this breed in Brazil. Apart from the horse show, the international exhibition will include three contests.
In the Breeder’s Cup, the animals closest to the breed’s standard will be selected. In this category, features like the animal’s figure (shape of the head, genetics, balance and musculature), structure and movements are assessed. Animals aged 06 to 36 months which have never been sold or transferred, only raised and shown by one single owner are eligible.
The horses will also be judged in the Performance category, which judges the animal’s conditioning under the command of the rider. The animals will be assessed by Brazilian and foreign judges.
In the Brazil Breeders Cup (Copa Brasil de Criadores), horses are required to be trained at the breeder’s own farm and presenters are not allowed to have connections with the training centres. The goal of the contest, according to the ABCCA press release, is to encourage the emergence of new presenters, and greater participation in the Brazilian exhibition circuit. The animals are awarded gold, silver and bronze titles.
The third contest is the 1st Ancaf 3 Barrel Circuit (Circuito Ancaf 3 Tambores). This contest tests animals’ speed and dexterity, and is promoted in a partnership by the ABCCA and the National Association of the Functional Arabian Horse (Ancaf). The contest will award R$ 15,000 in prizes (roughly US$ 6,300).
On Saturday (14th), the ABCCA will hold an auction to the benefit of the Support Group to Adolescents and Children with Cancer (GRAAC). The event will take place at the party hall of Vila Verde Hotel. Thirteen inseminations will be auctioned.
