Rio de Janeiro – The superintendent for Block Definition at Brazil’s National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), Juliana Vieira, said this Tuesday (30) during a technical seminar on the 16th Exploration Block Bidding Round and 6th Pre-Salt Production Sharing Round, in Rio de Janeiro, that these auctions are designed to spread knowledge of Brazilian sedimentary basins and pre-salt layer, attract new investments to Brazil, increase domestic reserves and production and decentralize investment in exploration in the country.
The 16th Round will see 36 blocks on offer; the 6th Pre-Salt Round will auction five blocks. “The second half will be intense,” said the ANP superintendent. The 17th and 7th bid rounds are slated for 2020, and the 18th and 8th, for 2021.
