The Brazilian president said today to his Syrian colleague, Bashar Al Assad, in Brasília, that he wants ‘the end of hurdles’ to the country’s entry in the organisation. Assad is visiting Brazil.
Bashar Al Assad should arrive in Brazil today and meet with Lula on Wednesday. The two will discuss conflict in the Middle East. In São Paulo, Assad will meet with the Arab Brazilian Chamber’s board.
The company’s first aircraft coming directly from Doha landed in São Paulo yesterday. The daily route also includes Buenos Aires, in Argentina. A ceremony was held at the Guarulhos airport.
The Arab logistics multinational is the controller of Itatrans, in the same sector. The deal was closed in December 2009 and the integration process is still in progress.
Last week, the fourth meeting for negotiation of the free trade agreement took place. The governments hope to sign the agreement at the next South American bloc summit, in July.
Revenues from shipments to the region totalled US$ 984.7 million in May, representing growth of 25.7% over the same month of last year. From January to May, sales total nearly US$ 4 billion.
