On Friday (16), Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva released the National Biofuel Pole, in Piracicaba, interior of the southeastern state of São Paulo, with the objective of maintenance and increase of Brazilian competitiveness in the production of renewable fuel.

According to the producer and exporter association, the value has reached US$ 512.4 million in the period between January and November. In the whole of last year this total was US$ 481 million. The sector, however, is worried with the Russian decision to establish import quotas and has requested that the government provide incentives for foreign sale. Russia is the main market for the Brazilian product.
