The Brazilian House of Representatives promoted an act of solidarity with Palestine yesterday, which was proclaimed by the United Nations the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. Politicians, ambassadors and leaders connected to the Arab world attended the event. "There always have been strong ties between Palestine and Brazil," said the ambassador for Palestine in Brasília, Mayada Bamie, who participated in the solemnity.

The city of Porto Alegre, in the southernmost Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, will host Destinations 2006 – World Tourism Forum for Peace and Sustainable Development, between November 29th and December 2nd. The forum will be attended by approximately 5,000 people from more than 40 countries.
Textile factories from the city of Imbituva, 180 kilometres away from Curitiba (the capital city of the southern Brazilian state of Paraná), have established a Local Productive Arrangement (APL) and are getting ready to export.
