Abimo, an organization that represents the sector, took 40 Brazilian companies to Arab Health, a fair that took place in Dubai last week. Participation should generate deals of US$ 11.2 million in the next 12 months. In May, a delegation of companies is travelling on a trade mission to Saudi Arabia, where they will participate in business meetings with Arab importers and in the Saudi Health Care fair.

Typical Brazilian dances, such as samba and frevo, will be presented at Global Village, an event to take place in the United Arab Emirates, during the greatest period of tourist attraction sales and promotions in the Middle East. The German government has authorized the mixture of 2% biodiesel into that derived from petroleum, and Brazil hopes to become the main supplier. A pilot project will take place in two cities, one in Brazil and the other in Germany, where official vehicles will be fuelled using alternative fuels.

Brazilian and Kuwaiti businessmen discussed yesterday, at the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ways of levelling the trade balance between Brazil and that country. While Brazilian exports to Kuwait rose 73% in 2004, sales from the Arab country to the country in South America dropped 70%. One of the alternatives for reduction of this difference, according to ambassador Mario Vilalva, is investment by Brazilian companies in the Arab country.
