While visiting the country, the businessmen participating in the mission to North Africa opened routes for sales and were interested in facilities for the installation of industrial enterprises. ‘The state of relations between Brazil and Tunisia has already advanced to a new level,’ stated the marketing vice president at the Arab Brazilian Chamber, Rubens Hannun, who is heading the delegation.
The announcement was made yesterday during a seminar with the delegation of Brazilian businessmen that is in the Arab country for the last phase of the trade mission to North Africa. The objective is to seek a balance in bilateral trade, currently very favourable for Brazil. Egypt is also seeking investment with the opening of new industrial zones turned to businesses of specific countries.
The marketing vice president at the organization, Rubens Hannun, met yesterday with the president of the Egyptian news agency, Abdalla Hassan. They discussed the possibility of an agreement for the exchange of journalistic material, exchange of professionals and expansion of the flow of information between Brazil and the Arab world.
The central region of Tunisia, which also includes the cities of Monastir, Mahdia and Kairouan, has 1,462 industries, being 886 exporters and 700 foreign. Business opportunities there were presented on Friday (01) to the Brazilian businessmen who are currently on a mission to North Africa.
The event, which begins on Saturday, will count on the participation of Brazilian construction company Andrade Gutierrez, of Grendene, one of the largest shoe producers in Brazil, and Frigorífico Minerva, a slaughterhouse, among other companies in the furniture and food sectors. The Brazilian stand, to include seven companies, will be organized by the Arab Brazilian Chamber.

Brazilian oil company Petrobras signed last weekend an agreement with Sonatrach that establishes the bases for purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The document opens doors to a possible purchase of Algerian gas by the Brazilian company starting in the second quarter of 2008, when the first Brazilian regasification plant will be ready.
