In an interview to Agência Brasil, the president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Antonio Sarkis Jr., discussed the agreement recently signed between the organization and the Brazilian Foreign Office (Itamaraty), to proceed with the decisions taken at the Brasília Summit, and the meeting of ministers of the economic area of the Arab world and of South America, which is going to take place in Ecuador.
The volume refers to last year and rose 17% in comparison to 2004. Brazil was the second main receiver of funds in the region, with US$ 6.4 billion. The money was sent to relatives by Brazilians who work abroad.
