The Institute of Arab Culture in Brazil and the Casa das Rosas Literature and Poetry Space will exhibit, in São Paulo, three documentaries on important figures of Arab culture, like the intellectual Edward Said and the poet Mahmud Darwish. The films will be presented today and on the 6th and 7th of July. After the exhibits there will be debates.

The International Literary Festival of Parati, city in Brazil, which takes place between the 9th and 13th of August, is going to count on the participation of the French Faïza Guène, daughter of Algerians, and the Palestinian Mourid Barghouti. Faïza was successful with a novel in which she tells the story of a Moroccan teenager and Barghouti won awards for the book about returning to Palestine after exile.

This is one of the conclusions of a study on the economy in the Middle East and North Africa elaborated by the World Bank. According to the Ibrd, with the price of the oil barrel above US$ 50 and with responsible fiscal policies, the GDP in the region should grow over 5% per year until 2008.
